We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why doso many of us skip it? Time? Or the lack of? If you are starting a new diet this year don’t make the mistake of skipping breakfast. It will play havoc with your blood sugar levels, leading to snacking and cravings later in the morning. There’s now a huge variety of breakfast options in supermarkets so it can be easy to just grab and go. However, it is important at breakfast time to go for options which have nutritional value and the much needed slow releasing energy. This will help you to get the most out of your day.


Oats are a brilliant breakfast choice as they are wholegrain, high in fibre and packed with slow releasing carbohydrates which will help to keep snacking at bay. Oats are also incredibly versatile so there are lots of ways to enjoy them in the morning.

An obvious oaty choice for the mornings (especially these cold ones!) is a bowl of hot porridge. Not a fan of it or find it too boring? Now, we all know that some mornings don’t run as smoothly as others. Running around the house trying to gather not only your own work gear but the kids’ school bags, lunch boxes and gym kits all while making sure everyone is fed and watered and the dog has been let out is an image many of us can relate to.
