Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2024 HIGHLIGHTS: Pat Cummins dented RCB’s sensational 288-run chase despite a valiant 83 from Dinesh Karthik as SRH registered a 25-run win in a record-smashing match in Bengaluru. The match witnessed the highest aggregate in a T20 with 549 runs across two innings and the joint-highest haul of sixes in a T20 (38).
Powered by a Travis Head century and a quickfire 67 from Heinrich Klaasen, SRH broke their own record for the highest-ever IPL total as they posted 287/3 against RCB. Faf du Plessis had won the toss against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Royal Challengers Bengalurun had opted to field first at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday.

Klaasen: It was unbelievable, that was a special knock by Head, put the pressure on the bowlers. I took a bit of time, knocked the ball around, waited for the bad balls and made sure he faced majority of the balls. It's nice to have bowlers under pressure. Haven't been training a lot, but had a good session (before the match). That fine-tuning worked tonight. We have been lucky, it was a good wicket, just needed to execute (our plans.) Their batters also played well.

Much better (batting display) from us, that was a proper t20 wicket. Just tried to get close in the end, but 280 was very far. It's tough. We tried a few things, we tried different things. There's no way to hide when your confidence is low. The fast bowlers found it quite difficult out there. Similar to the batting perspective, we need to work on few areas. Need to make sure the run rate doesn't go down after powerplay. The guys put up their hand and never gave up (in the run chase). It was good to see the fight, 30-40 runs from the bowling perspective was a bit too much. It's important to go away and freshen your mind, it's such a mental game. Sometimes you feel your mind is going to explode. When you get back to the contest you have to give full commitment.

Aaron Finch: 57m and 64m square boundaries respectively, 69m straight down the ground. Quite a bit of live green grass on it but it's patchy. Some balls will zip through, some balls will skid through, particularly with the new ball. This ground has had more spin than any other venue this season. This particular surface is a quite dry and it's cracking as well. The spinners will get consistent spin as the game goes on. Team batting second has an advantage here.

Will Jacks: We know we haven't quite hit the mark, we lost games where we should have done better and had a better chance of winning. We have to reset, still have 8 games and qualification is still in our hands. It's about starting fresh, winning tonight and gaining some momentum from that. You don't need to put that added pressure on yourself. As players we already know the situation we are in already, so no need to talk about that, only makes it harder for us. I have been amazed by the support here in Bengaluru. Hopefully we can use the crowd support tonight. Need to start well with the bat and ball, need to make the powerplay count.

We came into this competition in the last year of an auction cycle, you go to the auction, you improve the team, the best you can, you set the strategy, and you come in and you expect to deliver. Now, we haven't played the way we want to play."
Daniel Vettori, SRH Head Coach: "I think you have to keep challenging yourself to try to take wickets because any team can score that 60-70 at the back-end, in the last four or five overs. So I think no score is safe. And you always feel you're in the game, particularly when you're chasing.
