I’ve mentioned numerous time how important books are in terms of inspiring and remembering travel experiences but food is also hugely important when travelling so why not combine the two and travel the world in recipe books by discovering some of the best cuisines, either to inspire your next trip or to remind you of an incredible experience from a previous trip.

I would never describe myself as a foodie. When I’m at home I want meals that take as little time to prepare and cook as possible, in fact my thought is that if it takes longer to cook than eat I’m probably not that bothered. However, when I’m travelling I love trying new food, taking food tours and discovering the difference food cultures available around the world.

The Island Poké Cookbook

LMG Book Club: Travel the World in Recipe Books - Little Miss Gem Travels (8)Poké (pronounced Po-Keh) means to ‘slice’ or ‘dice’ in Hawaiian but it has evolved to become the Hawaiian staple of sliced raw fish served on rice with many condiments and toppings.

James, the author and founder of Island Poké, became hooked on this delicacy as a child on the beach in Maui. Fast-forward a couple of decades, James sensed a gap in the market for an authentic and sustainable approach to Hawaiian cuisine.
