Eerlijk gezegd stukken minder grappig dan deel 1. Evengoed leuk, en ik wil zeker deel 3 lezen!

In het vorige boek leerde we Aster kennen, haar volledige naam is Assepoester. We volgden een beetje het verhaal zoals we kennen van Assepoester. Maar aan het einde nam het verhaal een andere wending en dit tweede deel gaat daar precies mee verder.

Aster, Vonk, Hans en Muis zijn in het Diepe Donkere Woud. Ze willen graag de moeder van Aster vinden, maar daarvoor moeten ze naar Feeënland. En het Diepe Donkere Woud doet er eigenlijk van alles aan om ze tegen te houden.

Ze komen onder andere terecht in een huisje waarin alles in drieën is. Een groot bord, een middelgroot bord en een klein bord, etc. Daar blijven ze een nachtje slapen. Dan vervolgen ze hun reis weer en komen allerlei sprookjesfiguren tegen. Maar ook wezens waar nog nooit iemand van heeft gehoord. Zal feeënpeetmoeder Brian op tijd komen om Aster te helpen?

Het boek leest heel gemakkelijk en heeft veel herkenbare elementen. Dat maakt het een erg leuk boek om te lezen. Ik vond deel 1 eigenlijk leuker, daar gebeurde meer. Dit deel was wel leuk, maar ik vond het geen spetterende hoogtepunten hebben. Misschien is het wel zo’n typisch tweede deel waar het even inzakt en waarbij het derde deel weer geweldig is. Ik hoop het!

En oh wat is dit deel ook weer geweldig! Het is weer zó grappig, ik heb wederom zitten voorlezen aan mijn man. Maar het is ook avontuurlijk en spannend, wat een heerlijke combinatie.

Deze serie zit in mijn top 3 van series voor kinderen van 8+, zeker weten! (Samen met Matilda en de boekdwalers en De Vuurvallei). Kinderboekperfectie dit!

Lindey's writing is just so utterly delightful. She manages to find a really good balance between fantasy and whimsical, whilst adding some humour and light-hearted moments into her books.

I listened to the audiobook for this one over on Scribd and it was so much fun. The voices for each character were so well done, especially Brian who I honestly just think was the best. I love the ensemble in this cast and just absolutely love this story. It's enjoyable whilst not being too young. There are a good range of characters with a range of motivations and I don't feel at any point that it's "dumbed down" for children and there are some good strong characers.

I also love that we got more mentions of classic fairytales in Goldilocks and the 3 bears, and the delightful Hansel is still with us!

I picked this book because I have read and enjoyed many of Lindsey Kelk’s books aimed at adults. I didn’t regret it!

This is a great story, a fun adventure for Cinders and her friends (of human and animal types). However, this is the second book in a series, and as such, doesn’t really have a satisfying ending. I didn’t feel like I’d missed too much by not having read the first book, but really felt the lack of ending.

A great fun adventure for kids, but definitely read the series, rather than just one book. Oh, and the illustrations are great too.

I understand that these books are a series, but my kids and I would vastly prefer some solid plotlines that get resolution in each installation. The serial style and the cliffhangers in these books is really unsatisfying. We didn't even realize this one was close to ending until we heard the narrator say "The End". The story just... stopped.

Questi due libricini sono un amore quindi anche senza leggere la mia recensione dovete correre in libreria (o su Amazon) a comprarli per regalarli alle vostre nipotine o alle vostre figlie dai sei ai dieci anni. Io li custodirò gelosamente in attesa della pubblicazione del terzo volume che spero arrivi presto.

Cenere è il diminutivo di Cenerentola, ma non pensate di trovarvi di fronte alla fiaba che già conoscete narrata in modo più contemporaneo, no no, qui Cenere è una ragazzina e ha un fido compagno di avventure dal nome Scintilla oltre ai topolini vari che le tengono compagnia.

Cenere ha una matrigna e due sorellastre ossessionate dal Principe e i lavori domestici le vengono affibbiati come punizione per le sue marachelle non perché è tenuta prigioniera. Ha ancora il padre a cui vuole un gran bene e che la tratta come una principessa, ma la madre è venuta a mancare quando era piccina e non ricorda molto di lei.

La cosa che più mi ha fatto sorridere è la sua lingua lunga, si caccia spesso nei guai perché non sa tenere a bada i suoi pensieri e proprio questo suo modo di essere così avventato le fa scoprire una cosa incredibile…Cenere è magica! Non subito se ne capacita, in fondo lei ha solo desiderato che la pila di piatti e stoviglie si lavasse da sola, ma non è certa di ciò che ha visto. Poi esce in cortile alla ricerca di Scintilla per andare con lui a correre e ruzzolare nei campi riempiendosi di fango e cosa succede? Scintilla parla. Non è possibile che si sia avverato il suo desiderio. Ma inizia a credere che qualcosa di strano in lei ci sia quando dal nulla appare la sua fata Madrina, di nome Igor (è una donna ve lo posso assicurare) che le comunica che è tutto vero, certo deve lavorarci perché la sua magia è piuttosto instabile, ma fa parte di lei.

Così quando le si presenta l’occasione di testare la propria magia, contro il parere del padre e la volontà della matrigna, trasforma i suoi abiti in un elegante vestito da sera, fa diventare Scintilla un cocchiere e i topolini dei cavalli, crea la sua carrozza e si reca al ballo a palazzo, indossando le scarpine di cristallo appartenute alla madre, certa di vivere una serata emozionante. Peccato che al suo arrivo trovi un vero mortorio e per divertirsi un pochino finisca a nascondersi sotto al tavolo del banchetto. Proprio qui incontrerà il Principe Azzurro che sta fuggendo esattamente come lei. Un Principe che non ha nessuna intenzione di prender moglie ma se proprio è necessario vorrebbe che questa fosse Cenere. Purtroppo però Cenere deve fuggire perché la mezzanotte si avvicina e tutti i suoi incantesimi svaniranno. Ecco non proprio tutti, qualcosa non tornerà com’era prima e sarà di aiuto a Cenere per la sua fuga nella Foresta Oscura. Ma da cosa sta fuggendo Cenere accompagnata dal fidato Scintilla?

Gli umani e il regno fatato vivono due esistenze che non devono entrare in contatto, non si fidano gli uni degli altri e potrebbe scatenarsi una guerra. Cenere sa di non essere una strega e di non aver intenzione di far del male a nessuno per questo si mette in viaggio, deve raggiungere il Paese delle Fate trovare sua madre e scoprire cosa le è stato nascosto fin da quando era bambina. La sua traversata doveva essere solo con Scintilla, ma si aggiunge Hansel (proprio quello) che deve fuggire perché ha fatto qualcosa che non era il caso di fare, come è nella sua natura. Così l’avventura di arricchisce di un personaggio di tutto rispetto, ma non è il solo perché i tre avranno a che fare con una famiglia di orsi che tutti noi consociamo bene e con Raperonzolo. Io amo le fiabe contaminate, mi piace tantissimo quando vengono mischiate e i personaggi entrano in contatto rivelando altri aspetti del loro carattere.

Cenere e Scintilla è una trilogia per bambini davvero splendida sia per il testo che per le illustrazioni che cattureranno l’attenzione di tutti i bambini e anche di noi adulti. Mi sono divertita un mondo a scoprire questa nuova versione di Cenerentola e devo ammettere che, benché sia una delle mie fiabe preferite, il carattere di cenere così aperto, avventuroso e sopra le righe mi ha conquistato fin dalla prima pagina. Una versione rock e scanzonata di una delle fiabe più famose. Assolutamente da non perdere!

In this follow up we rejoin Cinders, her dog Sparks and Hansel as the continue on their journey to find Cinders fairy mother meanwhile Prince Joderick is suffering the company of Cinders step sisters and wants to get away and help instead!

However as they come across the three bears, have to use magic and beware of fairytale monsters on their journey creeping round too, can Cinders find her way to her mum at last?

I did think the book would flow faster and have more action to me this book just bridges the way to book three as it was literally all spent travelling following Cinders through the woods. Nonetheless I will still be eagerly awaiting the next book to find out what does happen next!

This is book two in the series and it is such a fun read. I've been reading this with my son and he says its one of his favourites this year, which is quite high praise!

This starts up right where the first book ends and we get straight back into Cinders adventure again, It is so full of funny and silly moments and I must say that I love how headstrong Cinders is!

My only problem here is how quickly it ended and how long we must wait for another installment!

Lindsey Kelk is back with another fabulous and funtastic adventure featuring the much loved comic duo, Cinders and Sparks.

Kelk's writing is, once again, effortlessly hilarious, with the perfect amount of silly twists and turns that'll keep her little readers entertained and engaged. Along with Pippa Curnick's charming illustrations throughout, Fairies in the Forest, will have readers wishing for the third instalment.

This is book number 2 and I loved this book just as much as number 1. I liked the way Cinders had a fun journey and The Three Bear part was really good. This book is really magical. I cant wait to read Cinders and Sparks - Goblins and Gold.

Oh my goodness I just love these book and I can't wait to hear what Cinders and Sparks get up to next. If you loved the last Cinders and Sparks book then you are going to love this one even more. There are more funny moments, more silliness, more girl power and more fairy tales twisted and adapted for your reading pleasure.

I just love how we can have a children's book that is silly and funny and yet have some strong characters who are good role models in the process. These books take what we know about fairy tales and turn them on their head. The stuff that remains is great fiction and something with a bit of a lesson along the way.

I also really love the magic in this book. Again, I think that this has been ramped up for book 2 but it is a kind of realistic magic, something which characters often question and often pause before 'activating'.

I definitely laughed during this book, it was a quick read and I enjoyed every moment of it. I'm headed to pre-order the next book in the series right now!
