Clue Scroll Help
Introduction
This page will (eventually) document Anagram, Cryptic, and Map clues for /v/scape specifically, as some are changed from Realscape due to earlier mapping and such. Each clue will indicate the treasure trail level it's available from. Click each picture for a larger version.
A puzzle icon next to a clue indicates that you will always receive a puzzle that must be completed , a spade icon indicates that you need to dig in a certain spot , and a key icon indicates that you need to kill a certain NPC to get a key for that clue .
All level 1 and 3 clues are currently listed, however level 2 clues still need to be completed.
Formatting tips for other contributors to this page are to upload the proper location + minimap of each clue that are missing pictures. For map clues, please include a picture of the open clue scroll itself as well. Do NOT use pictures from the OSRS wiki as they tend to be mostly inaccurate.

Easy clue scrolls Edit
- Pickpocketing H.A.M. Members for a 1/50 chance of an easy clue scroll.
- Killing thugs with a ring of wealth (i) equipped for a 1/64 drop rate.
- Killing swamp crabs for a 1/96 drop rate.
- Killing goblins for a 1/128 drop rate of an easy clue scroll.
The best way to farm hard clue scrolls in large numbers is by killing hellhounds in the Taverley hellhound resource dungeon, requiring level 55 Dungeoneering. Your action bar should consist of mainly abilities able to hit multiple targets, such as Corruption Blast, Chain (or Greater Chain), and Dragon Breath.
What are the clue scroll difficulties? ›
Clue scrolls have six types of difficulty levels, these are: beginner, easy, medium, hard, elite, and master. More difficult trails provide more valuable rewards.
What is the drop rate of clue scrolls? ›
A good, consistent source of medium clues can be done the following: Killing guards - Guards can drop medium clues, have very low hitpoints and have a drop rate of 1/128 (0.78%)(universally).
What is the best easy clue scroll drop? ›
Easy clue scrolls may also be obtained from:
- As loot from Baby/Young/Gourmet impling jars.
- Pickpocketing H.A.M. ...
- From the random appearance of Clue Nests/Bottles/Geodes while training Woodcutting/Fishing/Mining.
- Received from Ogre coffins.
- The Shades of Mort'ton minigame.
- Caskets from fishing or from Miscellania.
As a potential reward from completing any easy, medium, hard or elite treasure trails, with the chances of obtaining them being 1/50, 1/30, 1/15, and 1/5 respectively.
Does luck affect clue scrolls? ›
Drops and rewards affected by luck. The luck mechanic affects various rewards, including drops from slayer monsters and bosses, rewards from certain skilling activities, and clue scroll rewards.
Does luck of the dwarves help with clue scrolls? ›
Using a Dark Facet of Luck enchantment permanently bestows a 1% chance to skip a clue step on completion of a clue step, a 0.1% chance to gain two caskets on completion of a clue scroll, and adds a teleport to the Dwarven Outpost to the ring.
Are clue scrolls kept on death? ›
If a player dies in the Wilderness with a clue scroll above level 20, it will disappear whether it's a PvP death or not, unless it is an item kept on death, or if that player has a clue box. Players will find that the clue scroll will be gone upon returning to their loot otherwise.
What is the max clue scrolls? ›
Clue scrolls have a soft cap of 25 per tier (excluding master), which can be upgraded to 50 by purchasing the clue capacity upgrade in the Treasure Trails Reward Shop.
While you're killing hellhounds hoping for that second scroll to drop, you have to periodically refresh the drop timer on the ground scroll to prevent it from despawning. Dropped clue scrolls despawn in exactly 1 hour, so you have to pick up and re-drop every scroll on the ground before their 1 hour timer is up.
Does ring of wealth affect clue scroll drops? ›
Initially, some players believed that wearing a ring of wealth would give a better chance of landing on a rare drop table when completing a clue scroll. It has later been reconfirmed multiple times that this is not the case.
Can you buy clue scrolls? ›
A Clue scroll sends the player on Treasure Trails, a series of clues leading towards a buried treasure. Clue scrolls can be randomly dropped by various monsters, found while pickpocketing H.A.M. Members and Elven clan workers, looted from a Treasure chest decoration, or purchased with Thaler.
Do lesser demons drop clue scrolls? ›
The lesser demon champion scroll is an extremely rare drop from lesser demons. It contains a challenge from the Lesser Demon Champion. In order to be eligible to receive the scroll, players must be on a members server and have 32 quest points.
Are clue scroll rewards random? ›
Clue scrolls are random rewards from killing monsters and reward random items. The player can only have one clue scroll at a time inside their inventory. There are three different types of scrolls available to the player.
