History[]
Bus Simulator 21, just like the previous versions, is developed by StillAlive Studios and published by Astragon, It was announced on August 11, 2020.
First demo footage was shown on August 30, 2020 at the digital gamescom.
Features[]
Bus Simulator 21 introduced 6 new bus brands (Alexander Dennis, Blue Bird, BYD, Grande West, Scania, Volvo), and therefore also the introduction of double decker and electric buses. The game will feature a reworked version of the Bus Simulator 18 map, Seaside Valley, as well as a new, US-inspired map called Angel Shores. Both of these maps have an even better open-world approach than the last game. The game also features a complete weather and daylight cycle system, and a very complex timetable creation system. Purchasing and selling buses also got a big revamp, you can now visit bus dealers on the map to buy/sell buses. They have also expanded on the route planner, making you create the most efficient routes that take peak hours of passengers into account. Also, the pedestrian and traffic AI has thankfully been improved after getting a lot of critique in Bus Simulator 18. They have also added several new traffic challenges for you to overcome, including; narrow roads, oncoming traffic, serpentines, a busy bus terminal, road works, overland drives, new potholes, traffic jams, traffic obstacles, and much more. In continuation, new events in the bus have been added, that being; soiled interiors, special requests from passengers and more!
Next Stop Expansion[]
In February 2023, Astragon announced a free expansion of the current map with more tasks, a larger map which expands to the rural area north of the city of Angel Shores, which includes a national park and rural bus routes. As part of this expansion, new missions and challenges were added, alongside a new career mode where one can take the wheel as a bus driver. This update was released on May 16, 2023.
The expansion also adds Ebusco models and licensed school bus models to the game.
Modding Kit[]
The modding kit in Bus Simulator 18 wasn't directly a fan favourite, therefore in Bus Simulator 21 they are going to expand the modding kit a lot. You can create your own decals and wraps for your buses that you can share with the community via Mod.io. If you are prepared to, you can also create your own bus to use in game.

There are buses of ten brands available in vanilla Bus Simulator 21, Alexander Dennis, Blue Bird, BYD, Grande West, Iveco Bus, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Setra, and Volvo.

Story[]
Following the success of the transit system in Sunny Springs, the city of Angel Shores, based on the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States is looking to restore bus service, requiring the player to operate and manage the transit system. This also includes buying buses and assigning them to the appropriate routes as required while preventing a loss of revenue.
